My Internship Project: Savvy

In 2025, I completed my internship at Die Keure, where I got to work on Savvy, a project I was very passionate about. My goal was to make learning Python as easy as possible for students, so I built a tool that runs entirely in the browser with no needed installation.

From the very beginning, the idea behind Savvy was to lower the barriers that so many students face when they start programming. I still remember how complicated it was for me to set up my first programming environment. With Savvy, I wanted to make sure that anyone could start experimenting with Python in seconds, right from their browser, without worrying about technical difficulties or software compatibility.

I was responsible for most of the logic behind the application and learned a lot along the way, from experimenting with new technologies and getting to know new people. Working closely with the team at Die Keure was a rewarding experience. I got to see firsthand how much work goes into educational tools, from implementing new features to carefully polishing the user experience. The initial feedback and enthousiasm from teachers and colleagues was very encouraging.

Throughout my internship, I gained experience with technologies like Pyodide and Emscripten, and I became much more confident in both Python and TypeScript. I also learned a lot about collaborating with others, balancing technical decisions with educational goals, and iterating based on feedback.

My passion for Savvy is still going strong. I'm excited to continue working on it during the upcoming holiday season, adding new features and polishing the experience even further. There are still so many ideas I want to explore, and I am motivated to help make programming more accessible to students all across Flanders.

I want to thank Die Keure for the trust and support I received throughout my internship. Their encouragement made all the difference, and I am grateful for the experience. It's inspiring to work with people who believe in educational innovation and support you every step of the way.
